JOBTOWN JOG
In September 2023, the West Valley Fire Foundation (WVFF) held the first annual Jobtown Jog, a half marathon station run across West Valley City, in support of Lucy LLoyd, the 5 year old daughter of fellow firefighter Tommy Lloyd. Lucy was sadly diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and was informed treatment would be at least 2 years. This event aimed to raise money for Lucy’s medical bills and to physically symbolize the unwavering commitment of the firefighting community to stand by one of their own during a difficult time.
The event saw firefighters running through the heart of West Valley City, passing by various fire stations that provided encouragement and aid. The route highlighted the unity and strength of the firefighting community, with residents cheering and offering support along the way. The Jobtown Jog was not just a fundraiser but a powerful demonstration of collective action and the deep bonds within the community.
The WVFF is proud of the success of the Jobtown Jog, which raised substantial funds for Lucy and showcased the community's solidarity. This event has set a meaningful precedent, and we are committed to continuing this tradition annually. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported the event. Together, we can make a significant impact—one step at a time.
